During the summer I always become hyper-aware of my health. Warm weather means I’m baring more skin (eek), and spending a lot more time outside—which gets my brain going about fitness and good eating. Since I’m more likely to spend a lazy afternoon lounging and chowing down on carbs than going for a run, I’m using these five videos to motivate me to make even more time for my health this summer.
1) Yoga Poses for Travelers with Tara Stiles
The easy yoga routine she taught us is ideal for staying happy and healthy while traveling, but is also a great way to start each day. Yoga is by far my favorite exercise and helps keep me centered when I’m stressed.
2) goop’s Chocolate Love Smoothie
This delicious smoothie by Dr. Frank Lipman for Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle site, goop, is a refreshing and healthy alternative to a milkshake. The chocolate component means I’m still satisfying my sweet tooth without all the sugar and calories.
3) The 5 Workout Moves You’re Doing Wrong
These five moves are the basis of any core workout…so getting them right makes a serious difference. I know how hard it can be to feel like you’re working out effectively without a trainer motivating you. These tips for getting the moves correct ensure that, at the very least, I’m not hurting myself in the process.
4) Small Healthy Food Upgrades That Make a Big Difference
I have zero patience for calorie counting so it can be dificult to know if I’m really eating as healthily as I think. I was lucky enough to get a first-hand lesson from nutritionist Tanya Zuckerbrot on five changes that easily boost the health factor of my diet.
5) Arms on Fire Blogilates
I had to share a video from one of my favorite YouTube fitness channels, Blogilates. This routine targeting your arms—part of a series of “workouts on fire”—can be done anywhere and doesn’t require any equipment. Plus, arms are a major point of focus when you’re breaking out summer tanks and sleeveless dresses so a little toning never hurts.
