Rock a Red Lip on the Big Day: Lover.ly

We’ve been planning our dream weddings since we were five years old. So it’s no surprise that we can’t get enough of Lover.ly, a wedding inspiration site that lets you search through pics of swoon-worthy gowns, bouquets, and everything else you need for the big day. Once a week, the ladies behind Lover.ly will be sharing their best tips for getting through the craziness of the season—whether you’re standing at the altar or enjoying a view of it from the audience.

When it comes to wedding day beauty, many brides opt for a classic look: glowing skin, smoky eyes, and pink or nude lips. But there’s another classic look we love: bold lipstick. And while we’re fans of a vintage red lip, there are so many other ways to show off this look; it works for modern, boho, and traditional brides alike. Here are our favorite bridal bold lips from Lover.ly—and some tips on how to score a gorgeous crimson pout.

Bold lips, defined eyes, and beautiful brows create a classic wedding day look. Prep lips with the aptly-named Jurlique Rose Love Balm and then add a standout lip color to take a laid-back look to a new level.

Then, prevent lipstick from feathering throughout the wedding by lining pucker first with Lipstick Queen Invisible Liner.

Forget the old advice that you have to pair bold lips with neutrals everywhere else; we love these colorful looks! For the perfect red, try Beauty is Life Kingdom Lipstick, which Birchbox fans rated their favorite shade.

With the right hair and accessories, red lips can be downright demure. If you’re not feeling confident you can pull off really bold lips, layer on Lipstick Queen Medieval Tinted Lipstick Treatment until you get a just-right-for-you shade.
