Inside a Fashion and Beauty Writer’s Very California Wedding

We fell hard for Natalie Alcala last fall, when the LA-based writer and blogger spent a week guest blogging for us. In fact, we loved her posts so much that we asked her to be a contributing editor. In addition to blogging for us once a week, she’ll also be writing for the Birchbox Magazine and keeping us up to speed on all things fashion, beauty, and fun.

It happened! Last Saturday I got married, and it was as a dreamy as I hoped it would be. Everyone was spot-on when they told me that the day goes by ridiculously fast, so I’m glad that I savored every second of it. As previously mentioned, I went for a bohemian luxe look that matched my Pacific Palisades venue’s picture-perfect setting. Take a peek at some snaps, along with fashion and beauty credits, below!

My nails were done by celebrity artist Destinee Handly (she’s a must-follow on Instagram), who hooked me up with an adorable crystal-and-pearl mani. Before applying, she moisturized my hands with CND’s Almond Moisture Scrub and Panier des Sens’ Rose Hand Cream, which felt incredible.

I was lucky enough to have my makeup done by Jamie Fisher from Blushington. She traveled all the way to my venue to give me the perfect subtle cat-eye and red lip combo that I regularly reach for. I chose not to veer away from my go-to makeup look because 1) I’m a creature of habit and 2) I want to be able to look back at my photos and recognize myself.

My hair was cut by celebrity hairstylist Janine Jarman of Hairroin Salon, who gave me some great bridal beauty tips beforehand. My hair was styled by one of my bridesmaids, who’s also a brilliant stylist, Marjorie Grissinger.

Save for the shoes I designed with Australian bespoke service Shoes of Prey, my entire look was made up of Los Angeles-based designers. (How fashion writer of me!) My dress was by For Love & Lemons, my flower crown was by Cult Gaia and my jewelry was by Vanessa Mooney.

My mom and my floral back tattoo that not many people know I have.

After all was said and done, my husband and I relaxed and danced the night away. See more photos here!
