I’m what you’d call a workout dabbler. I’ll try any form of exercise at least once—from CrossFit to road biking—and I like to mix things up from day to day. It keeps me from getting bored and challenges my muscles in a way that the monotony of running all the time doesn’t. This past weekend, I participated in the inaugural PUREfyYourSoul, a modified tri that included a run, a spin class, and a yoga session. It was my kind of workout, especially since I got the end it with a cookie from Levain Bakery.
Now I don’t usually expect my exercise duds to stand up to my rather ADD workout-hopping. I have pants that work for spinning, tops that are great for running, and so on. My spandex is specialized and I’m just as picky about what I wear to the gym as I am about what I wear to work.
But recently I came across a top that (so far) stands up to everything I throw its way. I spotted the Actra Lace Back Tank in the Lady Foot Locker Spring Look Book and was intrigued by the double-thickness fabric, sturdy straps, and built-in bra. The brand was nice enough to send me a sample to test-drive and I promptly put it through the ringer: MetCon (burpees, pushups, squats galore), hot yoga, and spinning. It passed all with flying colors: everything stayed where it was supposed to, whether I was jumping or attempting a handstand. (Note: I wear a 34B and can’t vouch for its effectiveness on anyone with a larger chest.) And best of all, it was flattering and comfy. I’ll be picking it up in multiple colors, especially since it looks like it comes in Birchbox Pink.
