Model Beauty: A Celebration of Cara Delevingne’s Eyes

We fell hard for Natalie Alcala last fall, when the LA-based writer and blogger spent a week guest blogging for us. In fact, we loved her posts so much that we asked her to be a contributing editor. In addition to blogging for us once a week, she’ll also be writing for the Birchbox Magazine and keeping us up to speed on all things fashion, beauty, and fun.

Cara Delevingne (pronounced De-le-veen) is officially the model of the moment. A few months ago, Fashionista revealed that the 20-year-old British stunner walked in a whopping 53 shows during the spring 2013 runway season. That’s a lot of strutting!

So, why does every iconic fashion designer and acclaimed photographer want to work with her? Besides being a total charmer in front of the camera (have you seen her Shania Twain impression?) her features are spellbinding—especially those eyes. If you’re looking for some weekend beauty inspiration, here are six delightful Delevingne gazes worth replicating.

1. Major Mascara (pictured above): This is one of my favorite looks, which our very own Candice highlighted last year. It’s such a fun statement that can dress up any look. Keep the rest of your face bare like Cara to avoid looking clowny.

2. Vampy Cat: Fierce, fierce, fierce. Reach for theBalm’s Schwing liquid liner and a major mascara like Benefit’s They’re Real! to accentuate this sassy party-ready cat-eye.

3. Smoky Neutral: I love the warm and earthy vibe of this look. I’d use the neutrals and browns from Stila’s In the Garden shadow palette.

4. Disco Fever: These peepers bring the party. I love the metallic contouring and gradual thickness at the outer corner of the eyes. Try Stila’s In the Light palette for bold color, Chantecaille’s Papillons Eye Shade for silver shimmer (how cute is that compact?) and Noir’s Black Mania Kohl Eyeliner to create a thick line.

5. Chic Smudge: As seen here, Mary-Kate Olsen was an early adopter of this smoky brown under-eye look. Youngblood’s Pressed Mineral Eye Shadow Quad is my go-to for this.

6. Fembot Cat-Eye: Last but not least, here’s Cara looking like a retro bombshell. Use stila’s Stay All Day Liner to perfect this cat-eye’s extended flick, and finish the look off with a few coats of Chantecaille’s Faux Cils Mascara. As for her incredible ‘do, it looks like a hairnet and a lot of hairspray was involved.
