Valentine’s Day normally conjures up images of gourmet chocolates and long-stemmed roses, but this year I have my sights set on a different kind of gift: Smashbox’s recently unveiled limited edition Love Me collection.
Yesterday, I got to ogle the new goodies and meet the man behind the makeup: renowned artist Curtis Kulig. In 1999, Kulig moved from North Dakota to New York City, picked up a can of spray paint, and began emblazoning the words “Love Me” on rooftops and billboards all over the city. He quickly gained a cult following, and now the tag can be seen on everything from Van’s sneakers to Tokyo street signs.
Inspired by Kulig’s signature aesthetic, the collection features bold colors and sleek, modern packaging. These are a few of our favorites from the line that’s now available in select department stores and Sephoras:
This high impact blush is a flattering peachy hue with a touch of honey shimmer.
Inspired by Kulig’s favorite paint, this oversized liner is easy to use and leaves a thick, jet black line in its wake.
The piece de resistance? This lightweight red lipstick. I tested it and can vouch that it glides on seamlessly. Needless to say, I think I’ve found my new valentine.
Smashbox’s Hydrating Foundation comes in 12 natural-looking shades and gives skin even, glow-y coverage.
