5 Runway-Inspired Ponytails For Any Holiday Occasion

While the usual low-slung pony is great for day-to-day, holiday party season provides the ideal opportunity to experiment with a different style. That’s why we’ve teamed up with one of our favorite sites, Beauty High. Each week, they’ll be sending over a few runway shots to inspire you to try something new for your upcoming festive fetes.

One of the biggest trends on the runways for the past couple of seasons has been the dressed up ponytail. From slicked-back to slightly disheveled, there is a pony out there for you, no matter your style. And we’re not talking about that haphazard, running-to-the-gym ponytail—we’re talking about a ponytail that you can wear to your boyfriend’s parent’s house.

With all of your holiday events over the next few days, having a couple of great sophisticated styles to rely on is a must. Check out a few of our favorite runway-ready ponytails to try below.

This slicked-back ponytail seen on the runways at Jason Wu is event-appropriate and features a tight ribbon wrapped around the ponytail holder to step the look up a notch.

For the ladies who like a laid-back look, try this disheveled ponytail seen at Giles Deacon. Don’t worry about any loose ends, and finish the style by tying it with a pretty ribbon.

At Jil Sander, this sleek side-parted ponytail was pulled taut at the nape of the neck. To make this look sophisticated (and a bit different), the hair on the sides was pulled down over the ears.

At Tracy Reese, tousled waves were pulled very loosely into a low ponytail, leaving fringe out to hang around the ears. This style can be parted on any side, but we’re loving the ‘70s feel of the middle part.

The very simple yet sleek sophistication of this side-parted ponytail at David Koma is perfect for any holiday event.
