Eek, it’s the final hour for gift-finding! Just in case you still haven’t found presents for your loved ones, here’s some last-minute inspiration courtesy of our staffers. Today, our Director of Editorial Operations, Bene is sharing her top 5 picks for her dad. (December 19th—today!—is the last day to order from our Shop to receive your orders by December 24. Go now!)
1. PRORASO Shaving Cream
As soon as I saw this concentrated, creamy soap highlighted in a Birchbox Man video, I knew my dad would dig it. It’s emblematic of Italian style (just like Pops!) and will look great in the ceramic shaving cup he inherited from my grandfather, who owned a barbershop.
2. Dave’s Coffee Syrup
Both my parents grew up in Rhode Island, which has a ton of really interesting native foods for such a small state. While I can’t put fried clam cakes, cornmeal Johnnycakes, or cold pizza strips under the tree, this coffee syrup is perfect. And I’ll get to reap the rewards while home for the holidays (hello, Boxing Day coffee milkshake).
3. JONATHAN ADLER Owl Porcelain Ornament
One of my favorite holiday traditions is decorating the family Christmas tree when I get home to Connecticut. This ornament will make a great addition because owls represent wisdom, and my father is a wise, wise man.
4. Sardines in Olive Oil
Some families put chocolate in stockings—I got my dad a tin of Spanish sardines from one of my favorite food shops in New York, Despaña. These are delicious on crackers or toasted bread as a nibble with drinks before dinner. Top with piquillo peppers for extra pop.
5. Scuola di Eataly Cooking Class
Whenever I see my dad, we’re always talking about the next meal we’re planning to cook—even as we’re eating the current one. What better gift, then, than a cooking class we can take together? I signed us up for one focusing on the southern Italian region of Calabria, known for its spicy chili peppers, which we both adore.
Don’t fret. We’ve got even more gift inspiration: here’s what Birchbox staffer Jenn is gifting her BFF.
