3 Easy Ways to Spruce Up Your Home Decor

image

Whether you live in a tiny apartment or a sprawling ranch-style home, chances are you don’t get to update your décor as frequently as you’d like. I know I’ve been stuck with the same furniture since my first apartment after college because hey, it still works. But even if you don’t have the budget to do a redecoration right now, there are still a lot of small, very easy things you can do to make your home feel fresh and impress guests.

1) Incorporate pops of color into your color scheme: I can’t get enough of these cobalt blue C. Wonder Foo Dogs, which would look trés fetching on the book shelf next to my copy of Isabella Blow’s biography and old copies of New York Magazine. I’ve also got my eye on these Core Bamboo Utensils with color-blocked handles, which would certainly encourage me to cook more frequently.

2) Capture clutter: There’s nothing that makes me feel more dismayed about my apartment than seeing odds and ends cluttering up my coffee table and limited counter space. I use pretty much anything I can get my hands on to catch these bits of clutter and display them in a way that feels deliberate instead of hoarder. This Antica Farmacista Nickel-plated Decorative Tray, Teroforma Chevron Cocktail Tray, and Chambre de Sucre Macaron Limoge Trinket Box are all very pretty options for displaying large or small items that don’t necessarily belong anywhere else.

3) Upgrade your soap: It seems silly but one of the products you come into contact with most frequently in your home is your soap (we hope, haha). A small change like switching to a fancier option (read: lovely fragrance, less drying formula, and beautiful design) will make an instant impression on your guests, too. I really love Caldrea’s line of soaps, including their Holiday Dish Soap. It’s eco-friendly and made with aloe vera gel so it’s not drying on your hands. TOCCA’s Sapone da Mano is likewise made with aloe and is paraben free but it smells like TOCCA’s Cleopatra fragrance with notes of cucumber and grapefruit.
