Double Features: Movies We’re Watching This Weekend

Our top picks for pre-Turkey Day movies: Breaking Dawn Part 2 (Photo: hollywoodreporter.com), Anna Karenina (Photo: screencrush.com), Skyfall (Photo: filmofilia.com), Wreck-It Ralph: (Photo: womensenews.org)

The holiday movie season is officially upon us! Many of the year’s most hyped films are being released in such rapid succession that we can barely catch our breath in between fighting for seats at the theater. (True story: the last two movies I watched involved our group either sharing seats or sitting on the floor to avoid the neck pains of being in the front row.) Here are the hot new releases that we’ll be buying tickets for this weekend:

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2

While we’re definitely avoiding the Twihard-packed late night screenings, the tween girl in all of us is secretly excited to see how the vampire love story will end. Plus, we’re curious to see how Kristen Stewart’s makeup look will change with her vampiric transformation.

Anna Karenina

Brought to you by the man who directed Keira Knightley to an Oscar nomination in Pride and Prejudice, this new adaptation of the Russian novel promises to astound with its talented cast and gorgeous cinematography. We’re especially looking forward to swooning over the glamorous Dior-influenced costumes that inspired a Banana Republic collection

Skyfall

While admittedly Adele’s song and OPI’s Skyfall collection did play a part in getting us hyped for the newest James Bond film, it’s the cyberterrorism plotline and the rare look into the British spy’s shadowy past that has us really intrigued. Not to mention the fact that we’re a little bit in love with Daniel Craig.

Wreck-It Ralph

Unsurprisingly, for something delightful, uplifting and totally heart-warming we’re turning to Walt Disney. Comedians like John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman lent their voices to this story of an arcade game villain who quits his bad guy role in hopes of becoming a hero.

What new releases are you looking forward to seeing? Let us know in the comments!

Speaking of Twilight, have you seen Kristen Stewart’s racy red carpet dress yet? One thing’s for sure, it’s certainly got people buzzing!
