Techtastic: Meet Giff and Liz!

A big part of the Birchbox magic is our reliance on technology — using systems and data to make beauty better. Which is one of the reasons why we’re super duper psyched to have Giff and Liz on board. The incredibly savvy duo is working with us on product and technology development. We can’t wait for them to release Birchbox 2.0, but in the meantime they’ll have to deal with CMS questions from the editorial team all day. (Lucky them.) They also have their own startup, the just-launched Aprizi — it’s a smart and addictive Pandora for fashion that you’re all going to be hearing a lot about in the future. Check it out but first, meet Giff and Liz!

Giff Constable

Hometown: Washington D.C.

Fun fact: Color stripes make me happy. So my wallet has banned me from re-entering Paul Smith.

Unofficial Birchbox role: Photoshop Zen Master

Beauty Confession: My hairdresser is crushed every time I say “I’m going for the Steve Jobs look.”

Currently loving: The fact that I cannot understand half the things said by my colleagues at Birchbox; coming from the tech world, it is a nice reversal.

Worth the splurge: My wife has been thrilled with the NARS orgasm sample that came in her last Birchbox, and who am I to argue with that?

Best beauty trick: A little is great but less is more.

Liz Crawford

Hometown: Sydney, Australia

Unofficial Birchbox role: Oracle of Expression Engine

Beauty confession: I’m lazy. My hair care routine simply involves washing my hair every night and hoping for the best. Thankfully, “bed hair” never goes entirely out of fashion — right?

Currently loving: The Two Faced Primed and Poreless Primer sample that Hayley gave me the first day I met her. I’ll be needing to buy a full-size version soon.

Worth the splurge: I prefer to splurge on “services” I can’t perform myself: A good haircut, a great fake tan, remedial massage, acupuncture…

Best beauty trick: Nothing makes me look and feel better than doing yoga, lots of it.  On my list of New Year’s Resolutions: “Start doing yoga again.”
