It doesn’t happen very often, but every once in a while, we encounter a beauty product that throws us for a loop. The latest? Sumita Contrast Eye Pencil in Ziba, a beguiling lime green. We’ve come to embrace navy and deep plum eyeliners, but even the boldest of us might balk at such a bright, citrus-y color.
Since we love a good beauty challenge, we began playing around with the Sumita eyeliners immediately. We quickly discovered that the lime is actually extremely pretty and wearable. Worn on the waterline, it acts much as a white or nude eyeliner would, brightening and opening up the eye. Worn above a line of winged black liner (Sumita Contrast Eye Pencil in Suman), it gives eyes a burst of unexpected color—much like those popular neon satchels that have livened up many a New York fashionista’s all-black ensemble.
While this look is obviously not terribly work-appropriate (unless you work at Birchbox, of course!), it can be a great way to mix up your cat-eye look on the weekends or at night The best part is that you can pair the green and the black together in many different ways—and don’t even get us started on color blocking!
