Based in Washington D.C., Ayren Jackson-Cannady is so savvy that we wished she lived closer to NYC so that we could swap products with her. This beauty writer knows what’s up (she’s written for Fitness, Glamour, and Gloss Daily) and we’re excited to have her sharing her know-how and multi-culti beauty expertise as a contributing editor.
Am I the only one who’s been wondering about the whereabouts of supermodel Naomi Campbell lately? After some unsavory headlines a few years ago, the British beauty seemed to go into a bit of hiding. Then she started to tease us this year by participating in the model moment at the Closing Ceremonies of the London Olympics, alongside fellow Brits Kate Moss and Lily Cole, and then again as a catwalk vet when she also sashayed down the runway at Zac Posen’s New York Fashion Week show (at 42!). I knew something was in the works.
Turns out Naomi’s been busy working on her own reality TV show for Oxygen, aptly called The Face. The premise, much like Tyra Banks’ America’s Next Top Model, will pit 24 aspiring models against each other in hopes of becoming the face of Ulta’s fall and holiday 2013 beauty campaign. Much like Tyra’s girls who had serious smizing shoes to fill, Naomi’s troupe will have some fabulous faces to follow in (seriously, with cheekbones like hers, there’s not much wrong that can be done).
That’s why I picked three of Ms. Campbell’s best ever—in my humble opinion—magazine cover makeup looks. The Face contestants should pull out their eyeliner and lash extensions, and get practicing!
