Think Pink Polish For Fall

As much as we love nail art, we’re better at admiring designs than coming up with them ourselves. That’s why we’ve enlisted Anna Norman, the smarty pants behind Glitter, She Wrote, to be a regular contributor. Every Monday, she’ll be sharing her latest lacquer inspiration—you won’t be satisfied with plain ol’ polish again.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and everywhere I look, I’m seeing pink. The cheery color may seem better suited for spring and summer manis, but it’s actually one of my favorite colors to wear throughout fall and into winter. As the weather gets dreary and they days get darker, that vibrant pop of color is exactly what I need.

Here are my pink picks to carry you through the season:

Neutral Wardrobe = Bright Polish
There’s nothing like a bright flash of pink to liven up my cold weather wardrobe of darks and neutrals. While I save my ultra-neons for summer, I love a bright, saturated shade this time of year. RGB Pink is a great fall choice, as is Butter London Disco Biscuit, a similar color with an addition of iridescent shimmer.

Soft and Subdued
On the opposite side of the pink spectrum, well-groomed nails in soft shades are classic for fall—especially when paired with a belted trench coat, a colorful scarf, and a steaming pumpkin latte. You can’t go wrong with tenoverten Jane, a barely-there pale pink. For a deeper, earthier shade, try Deborah Lippmann Modern Love, a rosy mauve with a perfectly smooth and creamy formula.

Glitter Fix
During the cold, rainy days of fall, sometimes a girl just needs some glitter. Essie A Cut Above is a chunky, deep pink glitter that is sure to brighten up the day. The salmon-colored Deborah Lippmann Some Enchanted Evening gives a sheer wash of glitter to add just enough sparkle and shine to your tips.

Polish That Makes a Difference
Of course, the best shades of pink are those that help raise money and awareness. Several companies have released collections to raise money during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Check out Nails Inc. Pinkie Pink for some serious glitz. Other special collections include OPI’s Pink of Hearts, and the 4-polish essie collection We’re In It Together. A worthy cause and great polish—you can’t get better than that!
