Rebecca Minkoff’s classic Morning After Bag has been a cheeky consolation prize to thousands of young women making the way home from an evening rendezvous since 2005. In just six years, Minkoff’s eponymous collection has expanded beyond that still-popular bag to include bracelets, apparel, a men’s accessory line, and most recently, shoes. Throughout, the designer’s easy-chic style and winky details have made her bags and clothes a natural choice for downtown and uptown girls alike. Minkoff’s Fall 2011 runway show on Friday showcased the same indelible cool we’ve come to expect.
Read on for the makeup:
Stila pro makeup artist Sarah Lucero played off of the clothes’ modern vintage meets urban gypsy vibe with a classic Stila look. That meant there was a “glossy element to everything — not shimmery, or obvious.” The skin was Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer, which Lucero calls the must-have product this spring. For the eyes, Lucero created a non-cat eye, more of a V shape with a thin topaz line and Stila’s Stingray smudge stick, another play on Minkoff’s use of Stingray in her bags. Models’ eyes were framed by strong brows and “lots of fluttery lashes.”
If the show’s makeup was designed as modern vintage gypsy, the hair was pure “morning after.” Hair stylist and curl tamer, Ouidad, created sexy bed head with her PlayCurl mousse, styling gel, and large rollers. After setting the curls, Ouidad’s team backcombed models’ hair a bit for a soft, cloud-like halo. The effect was effortlessly cool, just like RM herself.
