The Craziest ‘Do We Saw at Fashion Week: Vera Wang’s Hair Turbans

Talk about a model’s worst nightmare to brush out! The extreme “hair turbans” created by Paul Hanlon for Frédéric Fekkai at Vera Wang were a feat of styling genius—one which most certainly left many of the girls deep conditioning and detangling later that day. “I quite like the idea that it doesn’t look like hair,” said Hanlon. “It looks like a material or a fabric that’s been out in the desert that’s been very weathered and beat up and dry,” said Hanlon.
To craft these towering textured ‘dos, Hanlon started by adding Fekkai’s Strong Hold Volume Mousse to the hair and then power drying it and backcombing it in sections. He then asked the models to flip their heads over so he could wrap, weave, and pin hair into the beehive-like shape. “The quicker you do it, the more beautiful it looks,” he said. He finished the style with a zealous spraying of Fekkai’s Sheer Hold Hairspray.
What do you think: will we be seeing “hair turbans” on any street style blogs?
