We’re guilty of sticking with the same hair cut for years — if it’s not broke, why fix it? — but that can be a little boring. But not everyone has our issue. Paulina, one of our amazing operations associates, is always eyeing new cuts and styles. She’ll be sharing her tress inspiration and tips every other week here via her feature Hairistocracy.
It started this past weekend at the Birchbox Sample Stop. Little miss Whitney, my beloved Ops Associate, volunteered to help our team with the event and had the lucky opportunity to get her hair done by the Fekkai team. She walked out with a killer up-do that happened to be one of the most unique I have ever seen. Even though I immediately assumed this look came from one of those stylists with magic hands (you know, an up-do that’s absolutely impossible to replicate yourself), I asked Whitney how they created it anyway.
Whitney shared the stylist’s secret and said that this incredible hair-spiration came all the way from Europe: a blog in France, Cut by Fred. The following week, Whitney came in sporting an equally electrifying up-do but this time, she did it all by herself through video tutorials from the blog. No knowledge of French required, friends!
So, before I invite you to take a look at the blog’s incredible and accessible hair tutorials, here’s a funny coincidence in the interest of full disclosure: it turns out that Fred from Cut by Fred is a collaborator with our recently acquired Birchbox Company, Joliebox. I don’t know about you but I think in the universe of hair, this is a sign that it’s all meant to be!
