The Perfectly Approachable Ponytail at Rachel Roy Spring 2013

At yesterday’s Rachel Roy presentation, celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson was on hand to talk about the perfect wearable ponytail he had created. “The position of the ponytail was the most important. We didn’t want it to be too high because the high ponytail tends to be a little too cheerleader, and the low ponytail can be too sophisticated. So we wanted something that sits in the middle of the head.”

The models’ ponytails were flat ironed before Gibson mussed them up a bit, pulling a few pieces free near their hairline and the nape of their neck. “We wanted everyone to have a smooth surface and then after the smooth surface we wanted to rough it up a little. She’s not so stark or unapproachable. She’s still a little approachable.”
