If we had to pick one beauty look from this week so far that represents how we want to wear our makeup come spring, it would be the look from Tibi. Describing the inspiration in a nutshell, lead makeup artist Kim Soane of Bobbi Brown said ” it’s a cool, urban, casual feel with a fresh spring vibe.”
To create that effect, skin had a matte “dusty” finish and a rose flush on the cheeks (which was achieved by using brand’s new retouching powders that will be out in the spring). For lips, True Beige Creamy Matte Lipstick was applied, which has a texture that’s “not dry, but there’s also no shine to the lip,” said Soane. Brows were defined but not exaggerated, so that the the real focal point of the look was the icy blue shadow. We wanted to know Soane’s tips for making this shade work off the runway, since it can be an color to pull off in real life. “Start always with a base color like white, ivory, or your bone shade, and make sure that’s all over from lash to brow,” she explained. “Try a powder shadow formula of that pastel because you want to do a wash, you want to see a dusty version of it, and pair it with a coat of mascara.” She warns that if you use liner, you may stray into cutesy territory, and always pair the bright shadow with a subtle nude lip and soft pink cheek to avoid any kind of color clashing.
