Blush and I have always been buddies. The brighter, the better. I still remember playing with my mom’s demure rose-colored shade when I was in middle school and thinking, ‘This is it?’ It’s no wonder that Bobbi Brown’s Apricot was my favorite shade for a good ten years.
Nowadays, I have a different blush for every day of the month (not joking) and none of them are, shall we say, demure. Lately, I’ve been on a bit of a testing streak when it comes to formulas. It all started with Benefit’s Benetint, the first stain I fell in love with. It’s a classic for a reason—the long-long-long-lasting formula is easy to apply and gives you a pretty rosy flush.
My latest love is Pixi Beauty’s Sheer Cheek Gel in Peachy, a cheery coral hue. The oil-free formula is practically made for the dog days of summer because it sinks right in and stays put through the humidity. For a little shimmer, I like to layer a complimentary powder blush, like Benefit’s pinky gold Bella Bamba, on top. Both products are gorgeous on their own but I love the staying power I get when I wear them together.
As we head into fall, I’ll be experimenting with another cheeky duo: creams and classic powders. Perhaps RMS Beauty’s Lip2Cheek in Smile, one of my all-time favorites, with a layer of Pixi Beauty’s Purest Peach on top? I’ll keep you posted.
