My grandmother. I can still remember the scent of her Chanel No. 5, the way she applied her lipstick and her short, perfectly manicured clear polished nails. She was beautiful and sophisticated even in her old age. When it came to beauty advice, she always told me that with beauty and fashion, less is more, and she thought women look their very best when they chose classic over trendy styles. Throughout my life I’d always hear her voice in my head, reminding me of that while I was out shopping or getting my hair or nails done.
My grandmother would roll over in her grave if she could see the crazy nail art taking over the world right now. I personally think it’s fun and a great way for individuals to be unique and eccentric. I’ve even dabbled in it myself from time to time. But, it is a trend, just like any other and very likely people will ultimately revert back to classic styles—mark my words. The majority of the time I stick to short red nails or French manicures. They are simple, elegant and go with anything, which inevitably makes them classic and timeless.
