Totally Mind-Blowing: Jeremy Renner, Action Hero and Makeup Artist?

How jazzed would you be to have this guy give you a smoky eye before a big night out? (photo: guardian.co.uk)
We’re used to seeing Jeremy Renner playing tough guy action parts in movies like The Bourne Legacy, The Hurt Locker, and The Avengers. Little did we know that before he achieved mainstream success, the actor supported himself as a makeup artist. Renner revealed his former job to Access Hollywood in April saying, “I could do makeup because I did theater…I could paint and I could draw, so I’m like, ‘OK, I’ll do makeup on girls all day.’” It’s a pretty brilliant strategy, which makes us wonder why more actors don’t earn money doing makeup instead of waiting tables. Read on for Renner’s best makeup tip:
In a March 2010 interview on Ellen, just after The Hurt Locker was nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars, Renner shared his best pro trick with DeGeneres. There were a few chuckles from the audience, but seriously, it’s solid advice:
“Brows, Lashes, Lips. Frame the face. It’s simple, it’s five minutes.”
With several blockbusters in the bag, and several more coming up, it doesn’t look like Renner will have to go back to his backup gig anytime soon. But if he does, we’ll be first in line for a spot in his chair.
