We’re guilty of sticking with the same hair cut for years—if it’s not broke, why fix it?—but that can be a little boring. But not everyone has our issue. Paulina, one of our amazing operations associates, is always eyeing new cuts and styles. She’ll be sharing her tress inspiration and tips every other week here via her Hairistocracy column.

I love musing over audacious hairstyles that, at the end of the day, I’m just too wimpy to take the plunge and try. Since alter-ego day (pick your dream superhero or profession!) is coming up this week at Birchbox HQ, I’ve been filling my head with extreme hair dares. With my imagination running, I finally settled on a look I’d love to go through with if I had the courage: a full-on blonde dye job (I’m naturally dark brunette) with bold dark brows à la Madonna in the ’80s!
The truth is, I’m a sucker for two-toned hair looks. I love an intense brow mixed in with blonde and caramel strands. Though I’m going for an ’80s Madonna look this coming week, my present day obsession is in the picture at the top of this post—I love French actress Vahina Giocante’s look at the 2009 Cannes Film festival.
Do you like her bold brows mixed with honey-colored strands? Would you try it yourself?
