I love beauty and fashion that’s outside the mainstream box, but seeing a runway look in pictures is a whole different thing than actually wearing it. My personal style tends to be more conservative, but in a concerted effort to be more exciting, I’ve been trying out eyeliners in different colors with surprisingly positive results. Here are my three favorite colored eyeliners that I can wear to work, as well as adapt for evening.
Navy Blue: I was talked into buying this navy blue liner by a Smashbox artist who convinced me it would be a chic but fun twist. Her suggestion was to try this blue liner with a fuchsia lip as a variation of the classic black liner and red lip. She was so right; navy is sophisticated with an unexpected playfulness.
Nude: Placing a nude color on the inner rims of my eyes not only covers up redness, but also opens it up and creates an overall brightening of the eye area. You can also use nude liner to cover up discoloration on the eyelid itself.
Olive Green: Unless you look carefully, it can be hard to tell I’m even wearing eyeliner when I use my soft olive green color. What you will notice, though, is that the flecks of color in my eyes are brought out by the green. Using olive green on the lower lash line creates extra emphasis, without looking harsh or heavy.
