I am very picky when it comes to how much poof my hair has. I want volume, but not ’80s-style insanity. The tough part is that I have pretty run-of-the-mill Asian hair, which has a tendency to get limp and stringy, especially during the summer.
I used to just wash with my regular shampoo (currently loving Malin + Goetz and Australian brand evo) and then follow up with a volumizing styler. The problem was, I started to feel like I had a lot of stuff in my hair. Which is why I’ve decided to go on a few dates with the new volumizing shampoo from Hair Rules.
I was first attracted to the products because they’re sulfate- and paraben-free, which is critical for my ultra-sensitive skin. And, when I looked at the label of their Lift Volumizing Shampoo, I was happy to see jojoba oil and aloe vera, two natural frizz-fighters.
This morning, I gave the shampoo a whirl. The bright citrus scent was an immediate plus, and after conditioning and blow-drying, I was pretty darn impressed. My hair was shiny, light and soft—huge win—with enough body to last me throughout the day. (Upon further research, I also found out that the formula is great for cleansing away product buildup too.) Needless to say, I’ve decided that Hair Rules and I are going to go steady for a little while. This is the summer of perky hair!
