This week’s guest blogger, Vida Lee, hits close to home for us—literally! She’s a beauty guru based in our hometown: New York City. Aside from being a product addict, she’s also a medical school student (whoa!) who makes time on the side for her pretty blog, P.S. It’s Vida. Over the next few days, the smarty savant will be sharing her greatest tips and tricks for staying prepped and primed for summer.
As a beauty blogger, I take my products almost everywhere I go, even to the beach for some minor primping. Here are a few things I like to use to keep it simple when going on beach trips:
Probably the most important step is applying proper sun protection! I use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Daily Sunblock with SPF 70. It has a super-sheer consistency, which makes it easy to apply and blend. This also means it sinks in quickly and doesn’t leave a greasy feeling on the skin. It works great under foundation, but I like to have bare skin when I go to the beach.
To add a sheen to the eyes, I use Becca’s Eye Tint in Vicuna. This is a very subtle peachy shade that’s beautiful when it catches the light. It applies effortlessly with just fingers and won’t budge after it’s dried. Another must is waterproof mascara. My favorite is Majolica Majorca Lash Enamel Glamour On. Once this is on, it’s going to take a lot of effort to get it off. But it’s worth it for a day of super long, fluttery lashes.
Cream blushes are also great in warmer weather because they melt right into the skin and wear nicely. The consistency of NYC’s Blushable Creme Sticks is incredible and the Plaza Pink shade, a gorgeous bright watermelon, is my pick. Just dab straight on your cheeks from the tube and blend. For the tops of my cheekbones, I use NARS’ Orgasm Illuminator. This adds a pretty peachy glow, and the almost liquid-like formula makes it easy to apply.
Finally, I always need something to keep my lips moisturized. Mario Badescu’s Lip Wax is super emolient and hydrating. It also has SPF 15, because lips need sun protection, too! You can layer any of your lipsticks on top of this to turn your favorite shades into sheer balms.
