This week’s guest blogger, Rodan Luo, is a lawyer by day and stylish blogger by night. We can’t get enough of her blog, full of eloquent musings and excellent advice. Since she’s also one of our jetsetter role models (the frequent traveler was most recently in Sayulita, Mexico), she’ll be blogging all week about ways to make travel even more awesome.

As I mentioned before, I try to travel light—taking pride in never having to check a bag, no matter where I venture to. But lately, I’ve been trying to downsize on things I carry in my purse day-to-day as well. A few days ago, while sitting with my friends on a beautiful afternoon sipping some pino grigio, we decided that this summer would be the summer of being minimal. We challenged ourselves to cut our daily makeup use to only three products.
Yes, it is difficult, but the benefits are many. Not only would it make my morning routine simple and hassle-free (I frequently juggle and balance many products on my lap as I apply my morning makeup on the train), but it would also help me cut down my spending on beauty products and give me more funds for what I love: travel.
My 3 Must Haves:
1. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20. Tinted + Moisturizing + SPF… I feel like I’m cheating by including a three-in-one beauty item, but the good news is, I’m not! This product is simply amazing—moisturizing my skin and giving it a smooth healthy glow. Even though the SPF is only 20, I continuously apply throughout the day, so my skin is always safe from the harmful rays of the sun.
2. ybf Universal Brow Pencil. This was a no-brainer for me because I have no eyebrows. Not really, but they are impossibly light and don’t frame my face the way I would like them to. ybf makes a great pencil, which helps me fill in and shape my brows every morning. When you’ve got more than 5 minutes, here’s a great tutorial on how to shape your eyebrows.
3. Tarte Cheek Stain in Blissful. For my last item, while my bronzer and blush were waging an epic war, I finally decided on my Tarte Cheek Stain. It’s a water-based gel that gives me a natural, dewy flush on my cheeks. This item doesn’t require a brush to apply, so it simplifies the beauty process even more.
Now that you know what three beauty items I would take with me on a train or to a deserted island, I challenge you to take a whack at making your list of three and dream of all the other things you can do with that extra bit of time and money.
