How To Get The Airbrushed Look Without the Hassle
At last week’s Birchbox video shoot, we were lucky enough to have the fabulously talented Reiva Cruze on set. In addition to rocking some seriously stylish turquoise specs from Xray, she also shared some of her pro tips.

Cruze, with her awesome Xray glasses, at our shoot.
Cruze is a master at airbrushing and loves the way it looks. But she knows that most people aren’t attempting to do it themselves. She says you can get a similar effect by using airbrush foundations as tinted moisturizer—just smooth it on with your fingers or a synthetic foundation brush. Or, for a more sheer look, Cruze likes to mix the foundation with a silicone-based primer like Temptu Pro’s S/B Primer.

Cruze also gave us two brands that we need to check out ASAP: Kett Cosmetics, which specializes in makeup that can stand up to the most intense HD cameras, and Makeup Designory, a line developed by professional makeup artists. After seeing Cruze use the products to camouflage our under eye circles and contour our cheeks, we’re totally sold.

Even if you’re not planning on facing HD cameras, you should invest in a long-wear primer like Smashbox Photo Finish Primer.
