According to a recent study, the fastest growing cosmetic procedure in the U.S. is no longer breast augmentation or rhinoplasties. These days, more and more patients are going under the knife with requests for chin augmentation to improve their jawline.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (which is the largest organization of board-certified plastic surgeons in the world), collected data from the group’s more than 7,000 members, and found that chin augmentation had grown by 71 percent in 2011. That’s more than the increase in botox, liposuction, and breast implants combined. (Although botox and breast augmentation continue to be the top cosmetic procedures in the country).
What caused the sudden desire for a strong jaw? ASPS president, Malcolm Z. Roth, is hypothesizing that it has to do with a recently developed technology that we use: skype.
"[A]s more people see themselves on video chat technology, they may notice that their jawline is not as sharp as they want it to be."
What do you think? Would you or have you had chin implants?
