Reduce Stress With Your Beauty Products

Based in Washington D.C., Ayren Jackson-Cannady is so savvy that we wished she lived closer to NYC so that we could swap products with her. This beauty writer knows what’s up (she’s written for Fitness, Glamour, and Gloss Daily) and we’re excited to have her sharing her know-how and multi-culti beauty expertise as a contributing editor.

April is National Stress Awareness Month. (Mini-tangent: Is there a month for everything? When is National Italian Ice Month? I love Italian ices…) If there’s one thing I know a lot about, it’s managing, compartmentalizing, and boxing up stress. This girl works full-time, has a five-month-old baby, is working on a master’s degree, and is trying to lose ten pounds by summertime. What keeps me calm, cool, and collected? Beauty products.

Taking slow, deep breaths doesn’t do a thing for me. But, call me vain, when I swipe on my fave NARS blush in Taos, or dab my Benefit Girl Meets Pearl highlighter on my brow bones, or spritz my wrists with Miss Dior Cherie Eau de Parfum, magic happens. There’s something undeniably peaceful about taking the time—even if it is just the few seconds between diaper changes, doing crunches, and reading Chekhov stories for class—to pamper yourself. Amiright? Check out a few more feel-good beauty products after the jump and tell me in comments what makes you feel all good and giddy inside.

1) Borgehese Fango Brillante Face Mask is packed with vitamin A and citrus unshiu peel extract to de-gunk pores and boost skin’s radiance. Leave it on for 15 minutes (hello, cat nap!).

2) Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment helps hide the signs of stress—think undereye bags and dark circles. It uses a luxurious concentration of avocado oil, beta carotene, and shea butter.

3) 21 Drops is a therapeutic line of aromatherapy oils that you rub on pulse points to help you address everything from will power to writer’s block.
