This week’s guest blogger, the lovely Alissa Kelly, offers up fun fashion and beauty advice on her blog, Feeling Good. (Our favorite feature? Kelly’s fun nail posts!) We love her optimistic attitude and useful tips. Today she’s giving advice on something we routinely fail at: organization.
Ladies, I must admit: I own at least ten makeup brushes but usually only use one (an eye shadow brush). Obviously, something needed to change. I put my semi-OCD/organizational skills to work on my collection.
If you’re like me and you need to see an item to use it, then get your brushes out in the open! Put them in a place where you’ll see them during your daily routine and then dress them up with a pretty container. I save vases and glass containers, and I thought this square one would be perfect for brushes because it’s not too tall or bulky. I had the glass rocks tucked away but put them inside to hold the brushes in place. It’s as simple as that! If you keep your brushes on a dresser, add a fun mirrored tray underneath (also good for mixing in perfume and jewelry).
To keep your brushes in good shape and help them last longer, make sure to wash them every so often. Use water or add a little dot of soap. Be sure you rinse thoroughly and let the bristles dry completely before use.
