Anne Hathaway Chopped Off Her Hair for Les Miserables

Anne Hathaway, the star of Dark Knight Rising, has a dramatic new haircut after snipping off all her locks for her role in the upcoming film version of Les Miserables.
Hathaway plays Fantine, a beautiful young mother who, after losing her job, becomes a prostitute to support her child and eventually catches tuberculosis. The role is physically quite demanding, and requires a gradual and somewhat graphic transformation that includes significant weight loss. Hathaway’s publicist, Stephen Huyane, recently told The Huffington Post that “Anne is on a special diet, but is not looking to lose that much weight and she’s consuming more than 500 calories a day.”
While she looks a bit thinner, clearly the most drastic difference in the actress’ appearance is her ultra-short new cut. We can’t get over how drastically different she looks, but we think the look actually suits Hathaway’s tough-yet-feminine style.
