Iceland, The Northern Lights, and Aurora Borealis: Packing List

This time of year, most of us are dreaming of tropical getaways. But Nicole, our office manager (also known as She Who Makes Magic Happen), is about to jet off to Iceland. She is taking a much-deserved vacation to do some trekking and spa-ing. Here’s what she’s bringing.

Cold weather trips are not usually on my hit list. But I jumped at the chance to see the Northern Lights and Aurora Borealis at the brightest they have been in past 50 years! My itinerary involves a day out in the Golden Circle (geysers, big waterfalls), a trip to the South Coast to see the famous puffins, a night chasing the Northern Lights, a trip to Reykjavik, and a half day at the Blue Lagoon soaking in the geothermal spa. My essentials:

Patagonia Jacket & Teva Tonalea Boots: Chasing the Northern Lights is fun, but cold! Packing warm gear to ensure that I am toasty.

Game of Thrones: Using my flight time to catch up on my not-so-secret Sci Fi addiction.

One Love Organics Skin Savior Waterless Beauty Balm: Flights and the Nordic climate will be super drying. This stuff works wonders on my hands, cuticles, and lips and smells great!

Dr. T’s Supergoop 30+ Sunscreen Swipe: It will be cold, but want to avoid sunburn during the hikes. These wipes are super handy and won’t burst in my luggage the way a whole bottle of sunscreen might.

La Fresh Waterproof Makeup Remover: These are really great to have on the plane and in the hotel. The lavender scent is really calming, which is exactly what I will need on my vacation.
