We fell hard for Natalie Alcala last fall, when the LA-based writer and blogger spent a week guest blogging for us. In fact, we loved her posts so much that we asked her to be a contributing editor. In addition to blogging for us once a week, she’ll also be writing for the Birchbox Magazine and keeping us up to speed on all things fashion, beauty, and fun.
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of attending The Makeup Show L.A., also known as a beauty aficionado’s dream. While I had tons of fun fawning over the latest offerings from brands like Anastasia and stila, there was one booth in particular that caught my eye: The New Black.
The brand has an abundant collection of ombré nail polish sets, which particularly delighted me. You see, although I loved the ombré and dip-dye hair trends when they were all the rage last year, I never had the courage to take the plunge. In fact, I’ve never dyed my hair, ever! (But I’ll save that tale for another time.)
Gone are the days of sifting through endless colors to buy standard-size nail polishes in graduated tones, just to recreate the trend at home. Thanks to The New Black’s convenient mini-sized collections, I now have an arsenal of complementary colors ready to ombré-fy my digits at any given moment. The only problem? Trying to pick a set. While I love all of their shades, this time around I opted for their Rover range of reds—and I’m hooked! The New Black’s polish formula is entirely vegan-friendly and chip-resistant, as well as free of toluene, formaldehyde, camphor, and DBP. As you can tell, I’m already a huge fan. Peruse the line and snap up your very own set here.
