Fun fact: Tatcha blotting papers were in the very first Birchbox, way back in September 2010. Katia, Hayley, and I were cray-cray for the handmade sheets, which are embedded with real gold leaf. We even shot a video of ourselves running around New York demonstrating the many uses of blotting papers (why this never went viral, we’ll never know). Since then, we’ve been waiting for the brand to launch a full-fledged skincare line. And it’s finally here.
Earlier this month, founder Vicky Tsai unveiled six-product collection, which is based on traditional Japanese beauty regimens. Instead of chemicals, the formulas use natural ingredients like algae, green tea, and rice. There is not one, not two, but three types of rice-based exfoliating powders, each calibrated for a different skin type. I’m partial to the one-step cleansing oil, which you massage into dry skin and quickly breaks down makeup and oil. I love it because it saves time, but also because it lives skin soft and, dare I say…youthful? Between this and my 24K blotting papers, my skincare regimen feeling pretty cosmopolitan.
