The Best of the Worst (Dating Stories): Guest Blogger
This week brings one of the most dreaded, or loved, holidays of the year: Valentine’s Day. No matter if you’re smitten or single, you’ll find nuggets of truth and hilarity in this week’s guest blogger posts from Annabel Acton, the Australian founder of Never Liked It Anyway. The site lets users buy and sell unwanted items from past relationships. Even better, though, it has a manual filled with “getting over it” tips along with a forum with tell-all stories about the worst relationships ever. We’re huge fans and know you will be, too! Read on for some great tips on living and loving.

The stories. Oh, the stories. We all have them, in different shapes and sizes, but the ones on Never Liked It Anyway now seem to be either disastrous or comical. Here, our favorites from the “Tell It” section.
Foxy revealed her story about a man who made her pay for everything. In her first entry, she asked the community for advice. By her second entry, she’d dumped him for good and revealed this gem of a line that her ex had said. “Well, I might not have the money, but at least I’m monogamous.” Amazing. Another personal favorite story is titled “God Told Him To Dump Me.” I’m not sure I need to elaborate. Other titles are just as telling “Two-Timer,” “Irish Bastard,” and “And Poof…he was gone.”
There’s another story by Jean-Baptiste, whose girlfriend left her Facebook account logged in while she went away so when she started chatting with another guy about how incredible last night was and how she didn’t want to go back to her “boring love life” in NYC, it popped up on his screen and he read every word. Ouch. Another girl tells the story of her very recent ex emailing her to ask for a great b&b recommendation for him to take his new girlfriend. Again, amazing. Then there’s the good old Internet dating scam story. This one woman fell head over heels for a man who, contrary to his description, was a fat, lazy, passive-aggressive alcoholic that left her $10,000 in debt. Big ouch.
While some of these stories really are tragic, a lot of them are written by people who have moved on to the point where they look back with either laughter or disbelief. And hopefully those in the thick of heartbreak can draw a little bit of inspiration from that.
