The K/LLER COLLECTION Team Shares its Underground Beauty Finds

Before the two decided to start K/LLER COLLECTION together, jewelry designers Michael Miller and Katie deGuzman worked from the same dark basement studio—a space that speaks to their shared appreciation for a moody, unexpected aesthetic. (See, for instance, their Of a Kind edition, a necklace that incorporates both natural and brass-cast porcupine quills.)

While their beauty regimens aren’t exactly dark, Michael and Katie turn up surprises in that realm, too. “I found out about this hair product Nigelle Rx Fluid by Milbon when my best friend and maid of honor helped with my hair for my rehearsal dinner,” Katie says. “Just a few pumps of this moisturizing magic fluid did amazing things for my hair! I’m a one-product kind of chick. It keeps my ends from being crazy-frizzy. Since it’s a Japanese product, I’ve only been able to find it at one salon in NYC, Shizen.” And Michael has uncovered a signature scent (that happens to be sold right here on Birchbox): “Sarah Cihat and Frederick Bouchardy developed JOYA FvsS Composition No. 1 Parfum in 2010. Sarah gave me the scent to test, and I don’t go a day without it. It comes in a handmade porcelain bottle with a 22k- gold-dipped wand. You feel sexy just applying it!”
