Show: Prabal Gurung
Makeup: Charlotte Tilbury for M.A.C.
Nails: Jin Soon for Sally Hansen
The Vibe: Good and evil; light and dark. Prabal Gurung’s collection was translated quite literally in this season’s beauty look: the line started all black, then transitioned to blue looks, and ended with ivory and gold pieces. Fittingly, Sally Hansen created four custom colors for the show, three of which were used on models: a black called Onyx, a lovely blue called Blue Rose, and a gorgeous chrome glitter gold called Gilded Lily. “Whoever is wearing black gets black nails, whoever is wearing blue gets blue nails, and gold polish is for the blonde girls wearing white and gold” explained lead manicurist, Jin Soon.
For the makeup, the emphasis was all on the eyes, picking up the blue iridescent, peacock-feather colors featured in many of the clothes. “We ended up coming up with this makeup that was bit like a bird of paradise,” said Charlotte Tilbury, lead makeup artist for M.A.C. “It’s a bit like a beautiful feather across the eye, and it came out looking a little bit Avatar-ish somehow.” To get this spectacular look, Tilbury used M.A.C.’s TechnaKohl Eyeliner in Smooth Blue, M.A.C.’s eyeshadow in Freshwater, Delft (from M.A.C.’s forthcoming fall palette), and a specially mixed blue-brown pigment with red undertones and green opalescent overtones.
