The show: Wes Gordon
Hair: Bumble and bumble
Makeup: Charlotte Willer for Maybelline
The Vibe: Strong, defined brows and provocative red lips competed for the spotlight at the Wes Gordon show this afternoon. “We’re going for a youthful, feminine look that reflects the tailored collection,” lead makeup artist Charlotte Willer said. Willer and her crew filled in models’ brows with Maybelline’s Master Shape Brow Pencil and saturated their lips with Very Cherry No. 635. Eyes were left intentionally bare with nary a trace of shadow, liner, or mascara, while the subtly contoured cheeks came courtesy of two different shades of blush: Dream Bouncy Blush in No. 60 and No. 5.
Not to be outshone, nails were festooned with custom CND nail decals. The deep amaranthine with strong black undertones was the result of blending three different colors together: Black Jack, Inkwell, and Electric Purple. “It’s a dark, moody shade, like Charles Dickens meets Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,” CND founder Jan Arnold said. “Like the collection, the nails have a highly polished uptown feel with a rock’n’roll edge. We went for a sleek, elongated almond shape that’s says ‘don’t mess with me.’” Though I normally keep my nails short when I wear dark polish, I was instantly inspired to start growing out my nails.
