I first spotted Aesop years ago in the bathroom of a very stylish male friend. I freaked him out a bit by how long I spent talking about how much I loved his hand wash and moisturizer. Since then, I’ve been a huge fan of the brand. How can you not love a company that includes in its brand philosophy the importance of “a healthy diet, sensible exercise, a moderate intake of red wine, and a regular dose of good books?”
The deeply intellectual company is thoughtful about every aspect of its products, from the formulas (packed with high concentrations of the best natural ingredients) to the packaging (apothecary meets modern design) to the scents (delightfully herbaceous). Its unisex line covers face, body, hair, and fragrance, plus extremely covetable kits and dapper shaving duds.
I recently tested out their Parsley Seed cleanser and serum to see if they could help brighten up my blah winter complexion. Now I consider myself fairly up to date on antioxidants, but this is the first I’ve heard of parsley seed, which I associate with cooking, not skincare. It turns out it’s a powerful antioxidant that has the power to undo all sorts of free radical damage. In addition to plenty of the hero antioxidants, the lightly foaming face wash has clarifying licorice root extract to even out skin and lactic acid for mild exfoliation. The matching Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Serum is the ideal follow up, with hydrating aloe and grapeseed extract. I loved how the duo left my skin feeling balanced and soft, and swear I looked more fresh-faced. Plus, the appealingly fresh, grassy smell is a welcome departure from my usual flowery product. Next on my must list: their Resurrection Aromatique Hand Wash, which is just the stylistic pick-me-up my bathroom needs.
