Haute couture has been showing in Paris this week, and we noticed a sexy new beauty look that popped up at Versace: an extra-bold, smoky cat eye with metallic accents.
Unlike the standard smoky look that finishes within the hollow of the eye, Versace’s version pushed the color out beyond the socket to the end of the brow. We loved that the primary color was an extra dark charcoal shade, but our favorite part was the shimmery gold highlight on the inner corner of the models’ eyes. It was such an unexpected pop of bright on an otherwise intensely monochromatic look.
Funny enough, this makeup actually reminded me of ’80s flick, Return to Oz. The über-terrifying characters, the wheelers, had an edgy, bold-masked eye too, but in bright red. (Totally crazy, I know, but it’s literally the first thing that came to mind.)
Either way, we loved the Versace eye makeup and can’t wait to try a similar (albeit toned down) version ourselves.
When we’re putting together a smokey eye, we use this Beauty is Life brush to get the look.
