Fragrances for the Perfume-Phobe

As long as I can remember, I have never been into fragrance. I don’t like it on myself, on my significant other, or on the gentlemen sitting next to me on the subway. No matter how many perfumes I try, I always have the same reaction: it smells like rubbing alcohol. Even a single spritz is too much for me to handle. But every season, when I hear about fragrance launches from Calvin Klein, Kim Kardashian, and everyone in between, I feel a little left out. As a self-described “beauty enthusiast,” I feel as like I am putting my title to shame by being fragrance-free. With a little research, I found great options for other sensitive sniffers:

Pacifica Fragrances: This line of 20+ scents uses naturally denatured corn alcohol in combination with natural and essential oils. My Pick: Sandalwood Perfume Roll On. The woodsy yet sweet scented rollerball provides the perfect olfactory pleasure without being overpowering.

Lavanila Healthy Fragrances: Made with cane sugar-derived alcohol, essential oils, and natural extracts, these scents provide a vanilla fix that is less potent than other oriental category perfumes. My Pick: Lavanila’s Deluxe Mini Roller Ball Set. This set has four of Lavanila’s classic scents, which can be mixed and matched or worn alone.

Aveda Singular Notes: The basis of aromatherapy, single notes smell great and can also have healing and mood altering effects. My Pick: Ylang Ylang Oil. This distinct scent is not everyone’s cup of tea, but it has de-stressing properties (and is even thought of as an aphrodisiac).

Added bonus: All the above eco-friendly fragrances are all natural and 100% cruelty-free. Beautiful and beneficial!
