Along with makeup artists, hairstylists rank pretty high on our list of people we’d like to have around all the time. That’s just one reason we’re so excited to have hairstylist Kate Bryan guest blogging for us today. The other reason? We’re obsessed with her blog, The Small Things, which covers beauty, jewelry, and — you guessed it — the small things in life. Check back for her posts all week!
I enjoy experimenting with makeup, but in order to have great looking makeup, you need to start with skincare. The right combination of skincare products and maintenance will make a huge difference in how makeup goes on and how long it lasts.
In the morning, I start with Philosophy’s Purity face wash. It’s gentle and nourishing, without the “squeaky-clean” feeling that can be too drying for my skin. Every other morning, I’ll exfoliate with Philosophy’s Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash. It has enough texture, or grit, to slough off dead skin cells or makeup without feeling like you are scratching your skin.
As a moisturizer, I use Philosophy’s Hope in a Jar. The non-greasy, silky finish is perfect for adding hydration to dry skin.
This skin care routine has really helped keep my skin clear and non-oily. And we all know makeup goes onto clean and clear skin beautifully!
Kate also has an awesome Birchbox giveaway on her blog right now! Read about it HERE for more information and to enter.
