When you think of Thanksgiving leftovers you probably envision sweet potato pie breakfasts and lunchtime turkey sandwiches. We highly doubt “skin-smoothing facials” come to mind. But according to skincare expert and celebrity esthetician Renée Rouleau, Thanksgiving leftovers make some of the best DIY skin treatments. Check out how she repurposes pumpkin puree after the jump.
Pumpkin Smoothing Mask
Pumpkin contains vitamin A for skin healing and regeneration, vitamin C to provide powerful antioxidant protection, and natural enzymes to dissolve and digest dry skin cells, says Rouleau. The end result is smoother, more supple glowing skin.
What you’ll need:
2 tsp canned pumpkin puree
1/2 tsp honey (humectant to hold moisture in the skin)
1/4 tablespoon whole milk (dissolves dry skin cells naturally)
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Apply a thin coat to clean skin and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse well with lukewarm water and follow with your favorite alcohol-free toner and moisturizer.
