I just spent the morning getting pampered at Ulta Beauty at Rego Park in Queens (surprisingly close to the city!). In between a brow shaping and a blow out, I got a chance to chat with Maureen Kelly, the CEO and Founder of Tarte Cosmetics. In addition to showing me some of the holiday gift sets they’re launching this year (look for “Puttin’ On The Glitz,” a clutch with snap in eye shadow, powder and bronzer palettes), she gave me a few tips for transitioning makeup for fall and winter.
First, Maureen says you should switch your makeup from a tinted moisturizer to a more full coverage foundation. Not only can dry winter skin handle a more moisturizing formula but you’re also probably a bit paler than you were during the summer, meaning any imperfections or redness will stand out more. Once you perfect your skin, highlight either your lips or eyes with a darker pout or smokey eye. I love the Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tints because they’re super easy to apply and bright but they won’t dry out lips like many tints. Stick to darker tones on one area, eyes or lips, and keep the rest of your makeup neutral.
