When it comes to runway shows, there is nothing I love seeing more than crazy lip colors. I adore testing out different hues and translating something from the catwalk into something that I can try. Richard Chai Love just showcased super-intense shades of electric blue and deep violet for spring 2012, which has me thinking about how I can experiment with the more wearable versions of those colors come warmer weather. Perhaps test driving a pink-toned pastel blue or an ultra-light violet?
One look, however, that I will never don again is the all black lip. When YSL came out with its fall 2008 RTW collection, I swooned over the shiny black bowl cuts and inky pouts. The whole thing was so different; so fresh! Somehow, I managed to get my hands on the limited-edition YSL Pur Black Gloss that they had used in the show and thought it would be a good idea to give it a whirl one night. But instead of looking avant-garde, I just looked angry. (Not shock there, I know…) Needless to say, the shade never became a mainstay in my rotation.
